A piece of cloth upon a pole
Is quite enough to stir the soul
Seventy six years – a tumultuous ride
A past that swells our hearts with pride
Speakers blare and anthems sound
Flags aflutter across each ground
We all stand firm, resolute
Hands raised in one grand salute
Lives lost, sufferings and the pain
Not a single one has been in vain
The reason why we stand so tall
No task too big, no life too small
The sun’s first golden rays this dawn
Rings promise of India reborn
We shall prevail and we shall write
A shining future, strong and bright
Beautiful lines Sir especially the part “No task too big, no life too small”
Happy Independence Day sir. First time…we hear poetic expression of your thoughts. Simple and candid patriotic thoughts.
Well composed Sir. Captures the emotions of the nation.
Sir, A very nice and delightful poem, paints very vividly the tapestry of love, sacrifice and devotion for one’s homeland. Subtly brings out the beauty of a shared heritage. Enchanting!!!.
Beautiful sir…..makes one feel so special
Sir
Very aptly put. I am reading a poem written by you for the first time. Would love to read more from you. Keep them coming.
Effortlessly you treaded into Communicators’ domain
Meaningful rhythm and meter you gain
Many happy returns of the day ‘Bharat’ !. A well rhymed poem on the eve of Independence Day to celebrate the spirit of Patriotism and Nationalism emphasizing the need for all Indians to rise above religion, social differences, region and political aspirations. The poem inspires each one of us to continue to march towards a better future by creating a world of tolerance, cohesiveness, inclusivity, oneness, love and peace. Thank you for stimulating us with a perfect and buoyant poem so apt for this special day sir. Jai Hind.
No task too big, no life too small
So very nicely written Sir
This is so special indeed
Sir, we share the patriotic fervour in the birthday poem for Bharat. As we celebrate her 77th Independence Day, hope the pride and joy of every citizen of this great nation, transcend into everyday deeds and a way of life. Jai Hind.
What a revelation this!!! The Admiral at his romantic best and exercising the poetic license to rhyme his well considered thoughts, as always, so beautifully indeed. The departure quite conspicuous from the earlier mostly prosaic, but always very well articulated, expression while donning the highly ornamented attire till very recently. Delighted immensely to see you in this Avatar too.
Thank you Sanyal Sir. Just pushing the envelope a bit… 🙂
Beautiful words sir on our Independence Day….’A past that swells our heart with pride’….so true
